I
n response to the growing need for sulfur fertilization
worldwide, Shell Thiogro has developed technologies
to enable fertilizer producers to incorporate elemental
sulfur into their existing fertilizers. The company's
latest development, Urea-ES technology, disperses finely
micronised elemental sulfur into conventional urea
fertilizer, producing an all-in-one nitrogen and sulfur
solution in high analysis formulations, including 43-0-0-7S,
40-0-0-13S and 35-0-0-24S.
Shell has collaborated with Uhde Fertilizer Technology
(UFT) to integrate Shell Thiogro Urea-ES technology with
UFT’s fluid bed granulation technology. This article will
explore the properties of sulfur-enhanced urea produced
with Urea-ES technology, and describe the modifications
